The Ford River Cemeteries will be having services on Memorial Day. West Ford River Cemetery will begin at 10 am with the South Ford River Cemetery Ceremony beginning around 10:30am.

The Ford River Township Board is meeting Wednesday 5/29 at 7pm at the Township Hall. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the Clerk position, hold interviews and approve training.
Ford River Township is seeking someone to fill the Clerk position. Main responsibilities include, but not limited to:
-Maintains custody of all Township records
-Maintains general ledger
-Prepares warrants for Township checks
-Records and maintains Township meeting minutes
-Keeps the Township book of oaths
-Responsible for regular and special meeting notices
-Publishes board meeting minutes
-Keeps voter registration files and conducts elections
-Chair of Township elections commission
-Keeps Township ordinance book
-Prepares financial statements
-Delivers tax certificates to supervisor and county clerk by September 30
-Must have the ability to be bonded
A strong understanding of accounting and QuickBooks is preferred.

The election equipment for the 5/7/19 election will be tested. The preliminary test will be at 6pm with the Public Accuracy Test at 6:30 pm.

The Ford River Volunteer Fire Department is holding a pancake breakfast and bake sale: Sunday, April 28th, 2019 from 8am-1:30pm at the Township Hall (3845 K. Road, Bark River, MI 49807).
Breakfast includes: Pancakes, scrambled eggs, American fries, sausage, coffee and orange juice.

A special meeting to approve the election inspectors will be held 4/8/19 at 7pm at the Township Hall (3845 K. Road, Bark River, MI).
The fee page has been updated to reflect the fee increase approved at the Budget Hearing 4/11/19.

Burials: Opening/Closing: $450 (was $300), Cremations/Child Burial: $175 (was $150)
The Township Board voted and approved Ordinance # 031119 at the 3/11/19 Board meeting. The ordinance prohibits recreational marijuana establishments in Ford River Township.
Section VII of the ordinance states the Planning Commission has until 3/11/20 to study the topic and prepare a report to the Township Board with the recommendation as whether or not the Township should authorize the establishments. This clause allows time for the State to issue the regulations for recreational marijuana.
The ordinance is effective April 6th, 2019.
