Notice to Ford River Township Water Customers

We are temporarily adding chlorine to the water supply to Address contamination issues in the system from E 4863 M35 To E5113 M35

What this means for the customers in the boil water advisory area.

1 Do not drink water immediately after smelling chlorine in the water. It must still be tested before the advisory can be lifted

2. Why testing takes so long

A. when a sample is taken it must sit for 24 hours before reading.
B. When we get a safe sample a second sample must be taken from the same source . The second sample must go through the same 24 hour process.

3. We will notify customers in the boil advisory area when it is safe to resume drinking the water.

4 After that you may notice some chlorine taste and smell in the water but it will be safe to drink

What this means for customers NOT in the boil water advisory area

Your Water is safe to drink. You may notice a chlorine smell and or taste in your water for a while. The concentration will be the same as communities that constantly chlorinate their water

For all customers
The chlorination is temporary. As water is used ,it will gradually dilute the chlorine
