Ford River is a rural community of 2,019 residents living in 906 households (as of the 2020 U.S. Census). The Township is located in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula (“UP”), just south of the cities of Escanaba and Gladstone (approximately 20 minutes and 30 minutes away, respectively). Ford River’s residents enjoy a quiet lifestyle connected to nature with many recreational opportunities only a stone’s-throw away. Township Hall provides a central gathering space for community events.
The Ford River community is closely connected to water resources. One of the aspects residents like the most about living in Ford River is the proximity to Lake Michigan, the Ford River, and the Bark River. There are numerous smaller lakes and rivers in Ford River Township as well, including North Lake, South Lake, Henderson Lakes, Sevenmile Marsh, Ten Mile Creek, Finnlands Creek, Sunny Brook and No Seeum Creek.
